Here we have a new picture made to look old. I found this in keeping with so many of the sites referred to on the Generator Blog, i.e., honestly, what is the point besides playing or wasting time? Yes, I am amazed at what is out there, but I'm also thinking that so much is pointless. Do people really have so much time on their hands? I suppose these comments are doing nothing but revealing my age ("bery" old - which is an inside joke) and my personal preference: when I have free time, I prefer to lose myself in a book, not the Internet. Okay, maybe I'm also getting disheartened by how much I am out of touch/out of the loop. (Lordy, I've just reread what I've written, and if I didn't want to have this part of the assignment done, I would delete it all. What a whiner! A cliched one at that. :)

Well, I'm overwhelmed. Apparently I don't spend near enough time on-line. I'm finally getting the idea that you can use the web for waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than I have so far. For instance, for this lesson I stumbled on www5.mydavinci.com (5??). I'm sure that this shows my total lack of artistic sensibilities (my oldest daughter, a graphic designer, is probably slapping herself on the forehead and contemplating a name change), but I'm wowed. I want one. And when you look at some of the prices on that site, you realize that spending too much time on the web could get expensive. Okay, must move on. I'm dreadfully behind in this class. :)

This picture is part of my Web 2.0 Challenge Lesson 4. I decided as long as I am wrestling with this technology, I might as well look on the sweet faces of my loved ones. At this point, I'm still not clear if this is going to show up as a blog on Flickr or as a new posting to my Bev's Blog on Blogger. I suppose I will be finding out in just a moment. This course is certainly expanding my technological horizons. :) Really, it's about time I caught up to the rest of the world.

Problems

I'm thinking that I'm not in this boat alone. Viewing problems as challenges (#3 of the 7.5 Habits of Highly Successful Learners) has got to be the single biggest stumbling block to most people on life's highway (life's gravel road in the case of Montana). For those of us over fifty, #6 Using Technology to Your Advantage comes in a close second. For the easiest habit to embrace: play, be curious, and read (#7.5). Humans have such innate curiosity that I'm afraid the only people lacking it are those clinically depressed. And that is not meant to be flippant.

(Well, is this empowering, or what?) The reason that the sea turtle picture was chosen for my profile is not because I love turtle soup or sea food in general, but because I am incredibly slow setting up this blog, or for that matter, dealing with any form of technology. (Ask my seventeen-year-old how fast I return a text message.) Hmmm, I've just been advised by an informed patron that sea turtles are in fact not slow in the water. However, this just validates another of my characteristics: inaccuracy. And in that vein, I hope to continue. :)
